What lessons can we learn from the great athletes?
Runner man. Health and fitness outdoor concept. Man is jogging in the morning. Young man doing sports and jogging in a park.

Sport offers more than just some cliché quotes about ,,work and dedication”. If you look closely enough, you will find out that sport shares all the life lessons similar to the ones from your favorite series from the 90s. The greatest athletes of the world manifest exemplary qualities in life, from hard work, perseverance, dedication to simple will. We all should start adapting some from their principles in our own life.

Most of us choose a different road in life ( or we do not have what we need in order to be athletes). But how can we apply the same passion and determination in order to reach a similar success as the athletes, but in our field of interest?

Some couple of advice that you can apply in any field:

  • Evaluate your goals– People with the most accomplishments in life, have the clearest and the most concise goals. Evaluating your goals consists of 3 steps: creating a plan with clear and precise schedules, the execution of the plan and its improvement. Any plan can be accomplished using these 3 easy steps. Learn and use them!
  • Take responsibility-When you take your life in your own hands and you accept the responsibility either for good and bad times, you can really accomplish great things in life. Failure is as essential as the success in your career, no matter in what field of interest. As long as you have the right attitude and you see failures as some learning experiences, you will be able to push yourself forward in order to achieve success.
  • Be brave– There are always a hundred reasons for not doing something, but you have to focus on finding your inner power. You will never have success if you do not have the courage to try what you fear the most.
  • Teamwork– Your achievements are not only yours. Along the way, there are people who support you. Once with your success, it is time to give back what you got- it is time to support other people on their way to success. Do not forget that your team is your most valuable asset.

Life lessons from the greatest athletes:

  • Michael Jordan– He was what we call a ,, phenomenon”. He is the undisputed and the most decorated player in the history of basketball. Jordan and dunks, the snickers used by Michael, have defied  all the Nature rules. This  man has started the basketball madness. Due to him, the sport has arrived all over the world where no other sport has managed this performance. This genius, with his crazy competitive   nature, has won all the hearts all over the world. It is remembered for his huge career in basketball and his abundant talent. To be charming it s not an easy job and to charm everybody is definitely  not an easy job as well. Jordan has been teaching us how your moves can inspire and impress others.
  • Tiger Woods– He had a single goal related to golf. Since his childhood he broke the record of the 18 major victories of Jack Nicklaus tournament. This was what motivated him. There were wounds that kept him from the circuit and a personal life that used to distract him. When he realized that he was not going to break Nicklaus’s record, he lost her joy for the game. As long as he lost that joy, he lost his motivation and his performance kept decreasing.
  • Michael Phelps– He is the most dominant athlete from all the times, with 28 medals, 23 out of them being from gold. Every time Michael conquers, he goes home with a medal and most often, it is a gold medal. He announced his retreat in 2016, but he kept a special place in people’s hearts. Phelps says that while he is swimming he feels like home, and he said the swimming comes very natural to him. He considers that you are your own limit and limits are stetted by your mind.
  • Roger Federer– This humble man does not consider himself the best tennis player, people consider him God though. Although he is at his end of a great career, he continues performing extremely well. Federer is calm, modest, patient, being the best tennis player that people have ever seen. When he suffered from a knee wound, he used to spent most of his time with his family traveling in Australia and Switzerland, being a family man. He has showed to the entire world that the balance between work and life can be kept, in spite of   all difficulties.
  • Lionel Messi-The captain of the Argentine national football team is now considered the best footballer who has ever  entered  in the field. But life it was not as good as it is now for him. He was born with a metallurgical father who could not afford the 900 $ treatment for hormone growth deficiency. Fortunately the child was talented and the treatment was eventually paid for by a youth football league. Messi knows that his ability to continue in football- apart from his extraordinary talent- came from someone who offered him financial help when he needed the most. Now, he is stepping back. He is a UNICEF ambassador, active in supporting HIV and AIDS research to help Haitian families, and has hired 8$ million from his team for all these efforts.

There are a lot more life lessons that you could learn from these athletes. Even if they seem to be a special race, they represent the courage, the commitment, the faith and the sacrifices that we all need to have  in order to do remarkable things.
